A visit to Odessey... Humbling to see my latest album... NINA IN THE MIX-The Dense Modesto Remixes already on the shelves, and SITTI IN THE MIX - The Dense Modesto Remixes sharing the racks. I was also amazed to see that my flipmixes (novelty remixes: Saging Lang Ang May Puso & Cascades Goes Ballroom) are still getting ample space. Thanks to all for the support.
I’ve taken some liking to Sitti’s bossa nova music. So I was rightly intrigued when I spotted Sitti in the Mix: The Dense Modesto Remixes at Music One in Glorietta a couple of months ago. This is a compilation of electronic remixes of Sitti’s songs, most of which are themselves bossa nova covers of nice songs. This makes this album an original twice removed. Hehehe. I’m a bit partial to electronic and dance music (EDM) and DJ Dense Modesto’s remix work got me quite curious.
I’m not an impulsive buyer, but I’ll admit that I bought the remix album on impulse. Listening to the CD in Music One, I was convinced enough to buy it. The album’s a pretty decent remixing of Sitti’s songs and it’s probably a good buy if you’re interested in locally-produced EDM.
Among the standout tracks on the compilation are “Didn’t Know I Was Looking For Love,” “Tattooed on my Mind,” and “Hey Look at the Sun.” EBTG’s songs are remix-friendly so it’s not surprising that “Didn’t Know” is a good track.
Dense is a pretty good remixer. I’m definitely not an expert on remixing, so take my words with liberal sprinklings of salt, but I can recognize that he has a promising talent. Bad remixing usually just lays a four-to-the-floor rhythm track on top of the song, but Dense uses various other effects and knows how to pace the songs. (I’m definitely gonna check out his next remix compilation, that of Nina’s songs.)

It’s final! Period! Capesche! Multi-Platinum selling Warner Music artist Sitti, despite the many attempts to rob her of her title as the Queen of the Filipino Bossa Nova sound, comes out with a strong win for the title, due to her recent achievements, with a new album dubbed My Bossa Nova as further testament to her unflinching talent and will to progress as both an artist and performer.
Though still hot off the heels of her last release Sitti In The Mix - The Dense Modesto Remixes (a collaboration with DJ Dense Modesto released by Warner Music and Club Myx), Sitti is ready to take the country by storm once again with her newest collection of tunes that’ll surely bring sunshine even on the rainiest of days, and usher in a new era of Bossa-fever nationwide.
In 2006, her Warner Music debut Café Bossa was certified double platinum, and her follow up Sitti Live! which was recorded at the Ortigas Park (and later on released on DVD) was certified Gold, selling more than 15,000 copies.
It was towards the end of the first half of 2007 when the boldly ambitious Sitti In The Mix - The Dense Modesto Remixes was released, much to critical acclaim, as it fused genres from both ends of the spectrum flawlessly.
